PlanePlotter Software from COAA...
PlanePlotter is a unique software program that enables a user to have a live radar type display of aircraft not only in their own local area but also regions and airways around the world. The PlanePlotter software program receives radio signals and decoded messages received with digital data transmitted from a variety of sources including ACARS, ADS-B and Mode-S systems by using VHF and UHF radio receivers scanners or from a number of readily available Virtual Radar boxes. PlanePlotter can also display position reports from aircraft over an almost global range using an HF receiver and decoding HFDL traffic.
As well as radar type displays, PlanePlotter can show aircraft position and information on a variety of charts created from graphic-image files, satellite-image downloads, downloaded OpenStreetMaps or custom-created aeronautical-type charts. As well as those graphical displays, PlanePlotter can also display messages received and decoded from live aircraft transmissions in a number of tabular formats. The software archives all the digital data that it receives and decodes it to log files that can be analysed at a later time.
PlanePlotter can decode HF SelCal messages displaying the called codes PlanePlotter has a unique Direction Finding (DF) feature that allows the software to detect the direction of any aircraft making voice transmissions providing a suitable antenna array and switch has been installed.
As well as displaying the position of aircraft received using local receivers/scanner or virtual radar boxes PlanePlotter can display data collected and shared by other PlanePlotter users by connecting to the Internet, thus a user in the centre of Europe can see quasi-live aircraft movements from all around the globe.
Additional third party software enabling aircraft positions and movements to be displayed using standard Web pages by accessing the PlanePlotter data files can be easily implemented providing visual interfaces using Google Maps and Google Earth.
